Pangea Audio Octet - 8 Outlet Power Center (Premier SE). Perfect Power Distribution for Larger AV Systems. Designed for larger audio and video systems, Pangea Audio Premier Octet® AC Power Distribution Strips were designed'from the ground up' by Jay Victor for superior audio and video performance. Octet features a sealed, all-metal cabinet housing for maximum radio frequency [RFI] and electromagnetic [EMI] noise suppression, plus premium audio-grade 20A/15A [NEMA 5-20] AC outlets. The pure power path with zero current-limiting electronic components in the conductor path uses hand-soldered connections and premium OFC copper or Cardas Grade One Copper internal wiring, depending on the model.

The high-grade 20 amp IEC power cable input uses an included heavy-duty 5-ft. Detachable AC power cord and has a power on/off LED. The AC power outlets with advanced polymer insulation bodies use extra-thick contacts made of copper-plated phosphor bronze, gold-plated phosphor bronze, or gold-plated beryllium copper, depending on the model. They firmly grip male AC prongs without letting go.

Crazy, "Overkill" Outlet Insulators, Too. "Another problem with standard AC wall receptacles is that they use a cheap nylon as an insulator in the outlets, " Jay explains. From my years developing components for x-ray equipment, I knew of an advanced polymer which has a much lower dielectric constant, making it a far better insulator. It also has a much higher voltage standoff.

In fact, I've used it in X-Ray cable connectors that had to handle 250,000 volts. "Sure, 250,000-volt standoff capability may sound like overkill, " Jay admits.
